Alberta Cancer Foundation

Established in 1935, the BC Cancer Foundation is the bridge that connects philanthropic support and research breakthroughs in cancer knowledge. As the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer Agency and the largest charitable funder of cancer research in this province, we enable donors to make contributions to leading-edge research that has a direct impact on improvements to cancer care for patients in British Columbia.

The BC Cancer Agency provides a province-wide cancer control program for everyone in British Columbia and Yukon. It delivers the full spectrum of cancer care including prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive, and palliative care. The BC Cancer Agency excels at translating exciting discoveries from the researcher’s bench to the patient’s bedside. This is the quickest and most effective way to impact cancer care, and it makes the Agency an international leader in cancer research.

We maintain offices in, and provide support to, all six of BC Cancer Agency's regional centres: Abbotsford, Fraser Valley (Surrey), Prince George, Southern Interior (Kelowna), Vancouver and Vancouver Island (Victoria).

Our unique relationship with the BC Cancer Agency allows our donors to be part of research discoveries made right here in B.C. Together we are funding and finding solutions that are having a direct impact on improving care for cancer patients in British Columbia.

BC Cancer Agency is responsible for cancer care and control for everyone in British Columbia.

  • reduce the incidence of cancer
  • reduce the mortality from cancer
  • improve the quality of life of those living with cancer

At BC Cancer Agency Research Centre, leading cancer researchers work with clinicians, scientists, research technicians, post-graduate students, and dedicated support staff to discover what causes cancer, ways to improve treatment and how to develop more effective means of controlling and curing the disease. Direct links between the Agency's Research Centre in Vancouver and the Agency's cancer centres across the province allow new discoveries, identified locally and around the world, to be quickly translated into clinical applications here in B.C., ensuring that cancer care and treatment are based on the most recent, evidence-based research and the latest technologies.
